Glory coach Kenny Lowe has accepted a two match sanction following his dismissal by the referee in Friday night’s 3-2 win against Melbourne City.
The Independent Match Review Panel reviewed the incident which happened in or around the half-time interval with the MRP citing his “Use of offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures towards a match official”.
Lowe said:
“I admit my actions at half time last Friday night were unacceptable and I apologise for the way I behaved. I know that I should be better. I feel like I have let everyone down at the Club, especially my players, staff and our supporters”
Head of A-League Greg O’Rourke re-iterated the need to show respect for match officials but commended Lowe for admitting his error in judgment in accepting ban.
“Respect for match officials is an important part of the fabric of all sports and it is not acceptable for a professional player or coach to confront a match official in such a way,” O’Rourke said.
“In saying that, we commend Kenny Lowe for acknowledging his error in judgment and look forward to seeing his passion back on the bench in two weeks.”
