The Sky Blues have broken all sorts of records during the 2016/17 A-League season, including most points, most wins, fewest goals conceded and most clean sheets in a single campaign.

Sydney’s remarkable campaign has had pundits comparing them with some of the best sides in A-League history.

However, Lowe said that would count for little if Sydney failed to go all the way and win the championship.

“They’ll want to create history. They’ll be devastated if they don’t,” Lowe said.

“Everyone is talking about them as the best team ever and rightly so, they’re a super team, but bottom line is you’ve got to win something.”

He continued: “It’s just a game. It’s just two teams who’ve got two arms, two legs and one head.

“Anything can happen on the day. I’ve been in enough cup matches to know you can get your backside felt if you don’t go in their correct.”

Remarkably Sydney have conceded only four goals at home all season.

The Sky Blues also won all four of their matches against Glory this season, 4-1, 4-1 and 3-0 along with a 2-0 win in the FFA Cup.

In this context, it’s hard to mount a case for a Glory upset but Lowe remained hopeful, citing the fact the match is essentially “a cup game”.

“Everyone has got weakness,” Lowe said.

“Even on their day, if some people don’t turn up, or if we’re lucky or if we’re unbelievable and we do turn up.

“There’s plenty of variables. The ref might help you out. It’s a cup game and that’s the beauty.

“There’s a lot of romance in the cup, so why can’t there be romance with us, with a little bit of a dream to get to the grand final.”

Lowe also cited Glory’s own bid for their slice of history.

“Sydney want to history but why can’t we,” he said.

“We’d be the only team outside the top two to go on and win it.

“It doesn’t mean we’re going to but it doesn’t stop you having that aspiration.”
