Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe says his side disrespected the game as they blew a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Central Coast at nib Stadium on Saturday night.
Glory raced to a three-goal advantage with a double from Adam Taggart and a penalty from Diego Castro, before the Mariners netted three second-half strikes to snatch a point.
“I thought they all looked lively first half,” Lowe said.
“You couldn’t have had a bet on that second half.
“If you disrespect the game and switch off mentally you’re going to get caught.”
Lowe said Glory were punished for altering their approach.
“We basically stopped doing the things we were doing in the first half in the shape and the way we were playing,” he said.
“We took our foot off the pedal to be truthful. Once they got their first sniff, they had the momentum.
“In saying that, we had four one-on-ones second half to put the game out of sight. That happens sometimes, it’s the nature of the game.”
Lowe added that he had no gripes with decision to award a penalty for the equaliser, which came after Rhys Williams was adjudged to have stepped in on Roy O’Donovan off the ball.
“I thought the keeper was going to pick the ball up and we didn’t need to do it,” Lowe said.
“It’s easy to say that on the sidelines.”
