The 20-year-old Australian defender, who has linked up with the Socceroos squad to face Kuwait, had recently returned to Villa Park after a three-month loan stint at Argyle.

Lowry impressed during his time at Plymouth and Pilgrims boss Paul Mariner has admitted he wants to keep the young Aussie.

Speaking to Herald Sport, Lowry discussed where his immediate future lay for him, revealing: "I don't have a clue, to be honest.

"I don't think it's any secret Plymouth would like to extend my loan. I have had a word with the gaffer (Mariner) and he wants me to stay. I put my views across to him as well but, at the end of the day, it's between Plymouth and Villa. It's not down to me.

"I don't make these decisions. But I would like to go out on loan again and play more games."

He added: "Villa are fourth in the Premier League at the moment so I have got to be realistic. I'm not going to be playing for them.

"Getting games with Plymouth has done me the world of good."
