SOCCEROO Shane Lowry has capped a marvellous week by signing a new two-year deal with English Premier League outfit Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old Perth-born defender, who was called up for Australia's 31-man provisional World Cup squad on Tuesday, has penned a new contract keeping him at Villa Park until June 2012.
Lowry, who spent time on loan with Plymouth Argyle and Leeds United this term, told the Villa website: "I am absolutely delighted.
"It's been a decent season for me. I made my debut for the Villa first team in the Europa League against Rapid Vienna and also managed to get some Football League experience under my belt too with Plymouth and Leeds.
"And then there's been the World Cup squad announcement too."
He added: "It's been a hectic couple of days - getting the call-up, winning promotion with Leeds and now signing my new contract.
"I am absolutely delighted."
