Reports at the weekend suggested the Brazil defender was one of four players - along with Tim Borowski, Andreas Ottl and Christian Lell - new coach Louis van Gaal was looking to move on.

An indignant Lucio, who is currently on Confederations Cup duty with his country, said he would not hang around if he was not wanted.

He told the local Tz newspaper: "If the coach believes that other people are better than me, then I will not play one more second for Bayern.

"Two years ago, the biggest clubs in Europe were after me and Bayern turned them down.

"I don't think that my game has changed over the last two years."

Lucio is not due back in Munich for pre-season training for at least another fortnight, depending on whether the Selecao reach the final.

However, it is no longer certain he will return to Bavaria at all.

"I still have a year to go on my contract with Bayern and if the coach does not need me anymore, they I have no problem in moving to another club," he added.

"I'm certain I would be wanted elsewhere. I don't have to prove my ability to anybody anymore, the whole world knows about it.

"As soon as I get back to Brazil, I will sit down with my agent.

"If they (Bayern) really think this of me, then it would be better if they spoke to me as soon as possible."

Better news for Bayern today was the confirmation that they and Heerenveen have reached an agreement over Danijel Pranjic.

Bayern had already agreed terms with the Croatia international, but the transfer seemed to be on the verge of collapsing with the teams miles apart in their valuations of the player.

A compromise has now been reached, enabling Pranjic to sign a three-year contract with the Bavarians.

"Pranjic is a versatile player who was very high up on the wishlist of coach Louis van Gaal," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on the club's website.

The 27-year-old midfielder is Bayern's sixth new signing this summer and will join the other new faces Anatoliy Tymoschuk, Ivica Olic, Alexander Baumjohann, Mario Gomez and Edson Brafheid at the start of pre-season training next week.

Borowski, meanwhile, may be heading back to Werder Bremen, according to the player's agent Jorg Neubauer.

Bremen, who appear to be cooling their interest in Borussia Monchengladbach's Marko Marin, have been linked with the 29-year-old and Neubauer admits his client would welcome a return to the club.

"That would be a great story for Tim," he told the Kreiszeitung Syke newspaper.

"We will have to see if a deal can be done or not."

Borowski was signed by Bayern by their former coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who had given the midfielder his break with the national team.

However, he was never able to hold down a regular starting berth in the Bayern team, neither under Klinsmann nor his successor Jupp Heynckes, and started only five games.
