Brazil defender David Luiz is to have surgery on a broken nose sustained in their 2-0 FIFA Confederations Cup win over Mexico on Wednesday.
The Chelsea man suffered the injury in a collision with team-mate Thiago Silva, and struggled to stem the blood flow from his nose in the immediate aftermath.
Luiz, who has won 24 international caps for Brazil in his career, confirmed the blow requires an operation.
However, he revealed he will not miss any of the tournament and will wait until the end of the competition to have the treatment, wearing a protective mask during matches.
"Yes, my nose is broken, but that's part of the game," Luiz said.
"Now I'll have to wait until the end of the competition and undergo surgery to fix it."
Brazil's next game takes place on Saturday when they face Italy in Salvador.
