Western Sydney midfielder Steven Lustica says the Wanderers are confident of overcoming Melbourne City in Wednesday night's FFA Cup quarter-final at AAMI Park.
City have been extremely busy in the off-season with a number of high-profile marquee signings, including Socceroo talisman Tim Cahill.
But Lustica, who arrived at Wanderland from Brisbane Roar in the off-season, believes his team has the class and talent to match Melbourne City.
"They've signed some quality players so of course they're going to be a tough team, a great team this season," he told FourFourTwo.
"It's going to be a tough game going to Melbourne but we're confident. We've been preparin the whole pre-season, working hard and getting better and better. They've got a lot of dangerous players and made some great signings but we're looking forward to the game."
The Wanderers have recently returned to Australia after a pre-season tour in Japan.
"We’re in Japan for eight days and it was a successful tour for us," Lustica said.
"We were challenged mentally and physically, it was tough conditions over there. I think we got a lot out of the tour so it was great preparation for the quarter-final with Melbourne City and for the coming season.
"Come February we've got the Asian Champions League coming up and we'll be playing in those conditions, so it was a good camp for us, we got a lot out of it."
City have been busy on the recruitment front but so have Western Sydney.
Apart from Lustica, the Wanderers have signed the likes of Jack Clisby, Kerem Bulut, Robert Cornthwaite and Jacob Melling.
Argentine attacking midfielder Nicolas Martinez has also arrived from Olympiacos, Uruguayan defensive midfielder Bruno Pinatares from Cerro, Spanish defender Aritz Borda from Alaves and Japanese midfielder Jumpei Kusukami from Sagan Tosu.
Despite the large turnover, Lustica said the team is gelling together well.
"We've got a lot of new faces this season, obviously me as well," the 25-year old said.
"It's exciting times ahead. The players that have come in have settled quite well. The team's cohesion's great and it was evident in Japan as well. We've got some quality players the club's recruited this season and I'm sure they're going to make a great impact for the club.
"Martinez got here last week, so he's just got here. You can see the quality there. His pedigree, where he's played, he's going to be a quality player for us. All the new players have fitted in well. The team enviornment's really positive at the moment."
