Socceroos number 10 Tom Rogic could be key to Australia's future...but needs to be a 90 minute man and not just a cameo star, says Fairfax Media football writer Michael Lynch.
In the new 442FM – where Lynch joins FFT editor Kevin Airs and writer John Davidson to review the consequences and reasons behind Australia's group stage exit from the World Cup – Lynch spotlights Rogic's sporadic performances as a key factor.
"Does he deliver enough?" demands Lynch. "Is he the great white elephant for Australia or not?
"In certain of these games, he looked fantastic for certain parts of these games and he really looked like he was about to break the game open.
"But he doesn't do it for 90 minutes."

But Lynch hails the resurrection of Massimo Luongo as someone who can make much more of an impact in the Socceroso side now, despite being ignored by caretaker coach Bert van Marwijk at Russia 2018.
"Big thumbs up about Massimo," says Lych in the podcast. "In the game against Colombia, he was by far Australia's best. He looked like he could have got a game for Colombia in that game.
"In the World Cup it was astonishing to me. I would rather have seen him in for Rogic than Jackson Irvine. Or maybe leave Mile Jedinak and rejig the whole set up.
"You could have had a high energy player that can score goals..."
