Young Australian winger Awer Mabil scored his fourth goal of the season as Esbjerg drew 1-1 with OB ahead of the Danish relegation play-offs where they’ll face Mustafa Amini’s AGF.
Mabil opened the scoring after driving forward on a positive run, before cutting inside and firing home a deflected strike on eight minutes.
Esbjerg were already condemned to the relegation play-offs, where they will meet AGF over two legs in the first round.
Elsewhere overnight, Mitchell Langerak’s ladder leading VfB Stuttgart are now guaranteed at least a place in the Bundesliga promotion/relegation play-off after contenders Eintracht Braunschweig defeated fourth-placed Union Berlin 3-1.
Stuttgart are top of the table by three points with two games to play, ahead of a crucial clash away to third-placed Hannover 96 on Sunday.
