Awer Mabil provided two assists but lost the battle of the Australians in Denmark as Mustafa Amini and Chris Ikonomidis' AGF crushed Esbjerg 6-2 overnight.
Mabil, who scored his maiden goal for Esbjerg last week, set up Robin Soder in a swift counter-attack for opener on two minutes.
The ex-Adelaide United winger also provided the cross for Mads Hvilsom to make it 2-1 before the break.
Unfortunately for Mabil, AGF hit back with five goals in the second half.
Mabil and Ikonomidis both played full games, while Amini was replaced after 61 minutes. Brent McGrath sat on the Esbjerg bench.
Elsewhere overnight, Socceroos stopper Mat Ryan was back on the Valencia bench as they drew 1-1 at Deportivo Coruna in Spain's La Liga.
Scott Jamieson put in a full shift as IFK Goteborg drew 2-2 with Elfsborg in Sweden's Allsvenskan.
