Macarthur South-West Sydney FC chairman Gino Marra says there’s no point in speculating about potential transfers now - the club’s new coach will decide who to sign.
The new A-League club will begin announcing player signings around December this year into January 2020, ahead of their first game in the 2020/21 A-League season.
“We want the coach in first before we sign any players,” Marra told FTBL.
“The coach of the first team will be announced around the end of this year. So he can start looking to sign the players."
Macarthur's announcement is in contrast to fellow A-League newcomers West Melbourne Group - set to enter the A-League in 2019/20 - who have already announced two signings, before formally announcing a coach.
This hasn't stopped speculation in South-West Sydney however, with Mile Jedinak rumoured to become Macarthur's inaugural marquee signing.
As for key roles such as CEO, Marra added: “Our plan is to get what we need in place then start looking for a CEO.
“We’ve got a deadline internally for the things we need to tick off, then we’ll look at a CEO after that.
The club had its first board meeting last week.
“The board meeting, it was mainly housekeeping," Marra said. "We hadn’t had an opportunity to get into a room together since we won the bid."
Meanwhile, MSWS’s name and colours will be decided after six community forums over the coming two months across the region.
And, in encouraging news for potential fans, the club’s first community forum has been moved to a bigger venue to accommodate a larger number of participants.
“We’re now finalising the new location at a larger premises to accommodate 300 people,” Marra added.
“Obviously we’re happy that fans are so keen to have their say. Names and colours, so many have been put forward.
“Once we finish the six community forums in total, we’ll start giving that feedback after each forum and so by around mid-April everybody knows what’s happening."
The forums will be across the southwest of Sydney, from Bankstown to Campbelltown and Wollondilly.
