McDonald was on target for Celtic over the weekend and now he's hoping to break his international duck in tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against the Japanese.

The fact that the opposition contains one of his club teammates just adds to the occasion and the pair have already shared a joke about the game.

Not that McDonald was prepared to accept the offer. He told goldcoast.com.au: "We've been talking about the game. He's offered to let us win in Melbourne (in June) if we let them win here, but he won't get it that easy I'm afraid.

"He sets up a lot of goals for me at Celtic and could cause us a lot of problems if we give away stupid free kicks in and around the box."

McDonald is hoping the match finally sees him score for the green and gold and once the first one arrives, he is condfident it won't be the last.

"Once I get my first one others will follow quickly. I'm feeling more comfortable every time I play with the national team," he said.
