Maccarone received a last-minute visa clearance on Monday, making him eligible for the Round of 32 Cup tie at Perry Park.

The 37-year-old would not have been allowed to play if his visa had not been approved in time, which could have been costly for the Roar.

However, it is unsure how much game time the Italian striker will get anyway, having only just recently began pre-season training.

Maccarone played 20 minutes in the Roar's friendly with Peninsula Power on Sunday - his only minutes of football since the end of May.

But the former Empoli man did look in sharp form, scoring twice as the Roar secured a 4-2 win.

Meanwhile, Roar coach John Aloisi confirmed Michael Theo will miss the clash against his former side Victory due to a cold.
