Australian striker Jamie Maclaren spurned the chance for a dream debut goal for new club Darmstadt 98 in a 1-1 draw with Brandon Borrello's Kaiserslautern overnight.
Maclaren debuted for Darmstadt as a 63rd minute substitute in Friday night's 2.Bundesliga clash, having been an unused sub on matchday one.
The former Brisbane Roar striker had a golden opportunity to open his account 10 minutes later, leading to Darmstadt's goal.

Full-back Markus Steinhofer's low cutback found Maclaren centrally placed, unmarked and barely six yards from goal, but his flick went straight to keeper Marius Muller who instinctively saved.
From the ensuing rebound, Darmstadt scrambled the equaliser with Wilson Kamavuaka converting.
Meanwhile, Borrello was an unused substitute for Kaiserslautern.
In England's Championship, James Meredith made his Millwall debut in a 1-0 loss away to Nottingham Forest.
Meredith put in a full shift at left-back for the newly promoted club.
