The 25-year-old has only managed six Australia caps despite being prolific at club level over the past four years at Hibernian, Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory.

Maclaren was part of Bert van Marwijk's World Cup squad but didn't manage a minute of action and was left to watch all three games from the bench.

Ex-Sydney and Central Coast boss Arnold is familiar with Maclaren from the pair's time facing off in the A-League but the Hibs forward wants to impress the new coach first-hand.

"It's obviously good to be involved in any camp," Maclaren said. "You never take those things for granted.

"Obviously with Graham coming in, you want to impress. First impression is always key.

"For myself, having already scored this season, I carry some confidence into this camp to show Arnie what I can do. I'm just looking forward to this week."

Maclaren landed a loan move from parent club SV Darmstadt 98 to Hibs in August where he's already scored once in five appearances.

"As a striker you want to score early in the season otherwise it starts to play on your mind,' he said.

"Having played five games now, it's always nice to start early. As a striker you can't beat scoring goals and it's always nice to do it at home."

Maclaren was also part of Australia's 2017 Confederations Cup squad where he was only used once, as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 draw with Chile.

He is keen to be part of Australia's 2019 Asian Cup squad in UAE in January, with a view to a more significant impact.

"Obviously being involved in the Confeds Cup and recently the World Cup you get goosebumps every time you go out," he said.

"Whether you're playing or on the bench watching, you do get goosebumps and you do think we're in a priveleged position right now representing our country.

"In the Asian Cup right now we're the champions so people will be out to chase us and bring us down. I want to be involved in that."
