EXCLUSIVE: Socceroo and recent Melbourne Heart injury replacement Adrian Madaschi will arrive in South Korea tomorrow for a medical with Jeju United, say K-League sources.
If he passes the medical with Jeju, the talented 29-year-old defender is set to become part of a growing exodus of Australian players - most of whom are central defenders - in the K-League.
Mariners star Matt Simon inked a deal with Chunnam Dragons last week where he links up with former Reds star Robbie Cornthwaite.
Ex-Roar starlet Luke DeVere made the move at the back end of last season for Gyeongnam along with Busan’s Iain Fyfe.
And Socceroo Sasa Ognenovski has been a huge hit in the K-League, earning an ACL winners medal and AFC player of the year award while at Seongnam.
Perth-born Madaschi, capped five times for the national team, has shored up Heart’s defence in recent months as a short term replacement.
The former Portosummaga defender arrived in Melbourne in September and trained for a month with Melbourne Victory before inking the ten-week in jury replacement deal with their cross-town rivals.
Madaschi’s arrival coincided with a form surge for the red and whites which sees them currently in third spot on the A-League ladder on equal points with second placed Brisbane.
Madaschi spent the past six years in Italian football. He also spent time in Scotland with Dundee and Partick Thistle and was part of the famous Joeys side of 1999 which reached the final of the World U17 Cup.
