THE Bundesliga clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Josh Kennedy's Karlsruhe has been called off after a Madonna concert left the pitch unplayable.
The pop legend performed at Eintracht's Commerzbank-Arena stadium on Tuesday and the scaffolding that held the stage and the flooring for the spectators is thought to have scarred the playing surface.
A statement on the Bundesliga's official website, www.bundesliga.de, read: "After a new inspection of the surface at the Commerzbank-Arena by a pitch commission, composing of representatives of the DFL (German Football League) as well as the referee team, this evening's planned Bundesliga game between Eintracht Frankfurt and Karlsruhe SC has been called off.
"The reasons for this is that the danger to the safety of the players because of the missing subsoil would be too great and we would not want to take this risk.
"A new date for this game has not yet been set."
