Independiente board member Daniel Vazquez has confirmed the only solid offer the Argentinian club have received for star teenager Nicolas Mazzola has come from Real Madrid.
West Ham have been linked with the 17-year-old striker but Vazquez, speaking in Mar del Plata where Independiente are in pre-season training ahead of the Clausura tournament, denied the Londoners had been in contact.
He insisted the only cash bid had come from Madrid - who value Mazzola at US$1million.
"There have been no offers from a British club," Vazquez told PA Sport.
"There are a few rumours but none of them is truth. We haven't even received a phone call.
"The only club that made a call, offering US$1million, was Real Madrid. But we quickly answered that Mazzola is not for sale."
According to Vazquez, Independiente coach Pedro Troglio is counting on Mazzola to make his first team debut this season.
He added: "He has an incredible talent. We want him to play in the senior team, he has a lot of potential and would give the fans a lot of happy Sundays."
Vazquez also confirmed that Mazzola's registration belongs 100% to Independiente and the economic rights are divided between the club (80%) and the player's manager (20%).
Meanwhile, Independiente's youth team manager Manuel Magan confirmed Mazzola is a talented prospect.
He told PA Sport: "He is an excellent forward, very mature for his age and unselfish.
"It's not common to find such a tall striker with such good skills.
"He is Independiente's biggest hope for the future. He arrived to the club two years ago and has already made great strides."
