Barcelona may be the defending Primera Division, Copa del Rey and European champions heading into next season but president Joan Laporta believes it will be big-spending Real Madrid who will be under more pressure.
Barca became the first Spanish side to achieve the treble following a remarkable first campaign under new coach Pep Guardiola and plenty of sides will be gunning for their scalp next term.
However, Laporta feels Madrid will be feeling the heat even more in the wake of what is set to be a summer of massive spending.
Kaka has already been signed for a fee reportedly in the region of £59million, while Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of completing an £80million switch to Madrid from Manchester United.
A host of other big-name players are also being linked to Florentino Perez's Madrid revolution as the capital club look to close the gap on Barca in Spain and build a side capable of challenging for the Champions League, whose final will be played at the Bernabeu.
Laporta said: "Next season the pressure will not be on us, Madrid will have it for the investments they are making. They are obliged to fight for a position in the world of football that right now Barca have."
Barca are not set to rest on their laurels either, and they are believed to be chasing a number of players to compliment the squad that swept all before them last season.
"Sometimes you have to give some fresh impetus in order to not lose motivation. We are working to make a better Barca," Laporta said on Onda Cero.
Among the players Barca have been looking at are Franck Ribery and David Villa, who have both also been on Madrid's radar as well.
Laporta confirmed Bayern Munich do not want to sell the France international, but the Barca chief did confirm they had spoken to Valencia about Villa, although without making an offer.
Laporta also insisted he knew nothing of media reports that Villa only wanted to go to Madrid if he was to leave Los Che - who on Friday declared the Spain international was not for sale and they would only consider it if they received a massive offer.
"There have been conversations with Valencia," said Laporta.
"We have not made any offer (for Villa). We have a list of interesting players for our project and we asked Valencia about his situation, nothing more."
He added: "No-one has ever told me that the player wants to go to Madrid."
Laporta also re-iterated that the club wanted to keep hold of prolific striker Samuel Eto'o, who will be out of contract next summer.
"He has a year left on his contract and it's normal that you meet to find out his plans, evaluate the conditions and search for the best solution. I want him to continue and Guardiola thinks the same as me," added Laporta.
