The livewire playmaker was set to play a key role for the Wanderers this season after making an immediate impact in midfield during pre-season.

But coach Markus Babbel's plans were thrown into disarray when the 32 year old was injured in training yesterday.

Scans today revealed a serious knee injury which looks like being both anterior cruciate ligament damage as well as an injured medial ligament.

He now looks set to be out of action until at least January with the possibility he may even miss the whole season depending on the extent of the ACL injury.

It comes in the same week Newcastle Jets lost their new star signing Wes Hoolihan until 2020 with an ankle injury picked up in the FFA Cup clash with Adelaide United.

Wanderers medical staff say they will continue to monitor Majewski's injury until a final assessment and rehabilitation timeline can be established.

A statement added: "The club wishes Majewski their full support during this difficult time."
