Verbeek has selected a squad drawn exclusively from A-League clubs for the encounter at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, partly because foreign clubs are not obliged to release their players as it is not an official FIFA international match date.

But the Dutchman underlined those that are involved can play themselves into the reckoning for the World Cup qualifier against Japan in February and beyond.

"I think the boys will be very excited to perform, I think it will be a great atmosphere and if they can't handle that, it will be a signal to the coaches for the future," he said.

"I don't speak about 'A' teams and 'B' teams because I don't think that's respectful to the players.

"These are the best Australian players in the A-League at the moment and it's up to them to show that they can also perform in a big international environment because it will be quite hectic and hostile and that's what I'm looking at.

"I'm picking players not because of what they've done but how they're playing at the moment.

"Of course, if a player shows me he is better than others, why shouldn't I pick him for the Japan game?"

Indonesia coach Benny Dollo has reinvigorated the national side and will be keen to build on the opening point gained with a gritty goalless draw in Oman last week.

Oman coach Claude Le Roy believes his side will carry a more potent threat against Kuwait than last time out against the Indonesians.

Midfielder Bader Al Maimani will miss the clash at Al Kuwait Stadium with a calf strain and Bolton Wanderers refused to release goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi, but Le Roy still expects the Gulf Cup champions to prevail.

"In the previous game against Indonesia the players were tired after playing against Saudi Arabia two days earlier and they couldn't score despite having a lot of chances," he said.

"The draw against Indonesia was not good for us, especially because it was a home match for us. I'm confident that the players will be able to get back into the campaign against Kuwait."

Kuwait coach Mohamad Ibrahim admits it will tough be for his side to open their Asian Cup qualifying account with a win.

"The game against Oman will be very hard because we will be playing against a tough team who have just won the Gulf Cup and they are going to go into the game full of confidence," he said.
