Sanchez and Eriksson last met when they were managers of national sides, with Northern Ireland's Sanchez scoring a shock win in Belfast over the Swede and his England team two years ago.

Eriksson got his revenge at Wembley in a 4-0 win but must have feared a repeat of the first meeting when Fulham took an early lead at Craven Cottage through Welshman Simon Davies.

But that was only the start of the fun and the Cottagers needed to come back from 3-2 down to snatch a high-scoring draw for the second home match in a row.

City boss Eriksson, who saw Bulgarian midfielder Martin Petrov score his first two goals for the club, admitted: "Six goals in a Premier League game is unusual and great fun if you come to watch or look at it on television - but in my job it is very disappointing to concede goals like that."

Fulham substitute Danny Murphy, making his debut after moving from Tottenham who lost a 3-1 lead at Craven Cottage three weeks ago, was the hero this time with a 74th-minute strike to earn a point.

But Fulham manager Sanchez said: "I'm not sure how to feel - elated or disappointed.

"We were twice in the lead but then had to show character again to come back from behind.

"I'm okay with Sven. That win against England in Belfast was a great achievement but people forget his team beat us 4-0 at Wembley."

Eriksson, whose team stay second in the table behind Arsenal even though Murphy's strike deprived them of their fifth League win of the season, made light of an incident in which England's 19-year-old new defender Micah Richards was lucky not to be sent off.

He clashed with Fulham's American striker Clint Dempsey after a tough tackle and clearly raised his hands - but referee Mark Halsey showed only a yellow card to both players.

Eriksson said: "Football would be perfect if nobody ever reacted. That is just what happened but Micah is a young player learning new lessons every day. This won't be a problem for him."

He added: "I was delighted to see Martin Petrov score two goals.

"He has had a lot of shots this season but has not been lucky with his finishing.

"He's a very good player and hopefully this will be the first goals of many from him.

"I'd like to win matches by playing entertaining football because if you don't you will not be able to get many wins.

"I would rather win 1-0 than draw 3-3 but we always seek to play attractive football and as long as I can be in charge that will continue."
