Reports in the UK suggest Manchester City will look to use their link with Melbourne City to bring Daniel Arzani to Europe after the World Cup.
The Sun suggests the English Premier League champions would then loan Arzani to Everdivisie club NAC Breda to allow him to continue his development in the Netherlands.
There is precedent for such a deal in the form of fellow Socceroo Aaron Mooy.
He swapped Melbourne for Manchester in 2016 and was immediately sent to Huddersfield Town, where he signed permanently exactly one year later.

However, City may face stiff competition for Arzani - the newspaper also lists Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen, Slavia Prague, AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven as clubs that have developed an interest in the 19 year-old, following his recent succession of bright cameos for the Socceroos.
Arzani is the youngest player involved in the 2018 World Cup.
NAC had five players on loan from Manchester City last season, and each of them were given a significant amount of game time as the club finished 14th in the 18-club league.
Spanish left-back Angelino enjoyed probably the most successful spell - the 21 year-old played every league match in 2017-18 and has secured himself a move to the Dutch champions, PSV Eindhoven.
