Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini sang the praises of Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez after they beat Newcastle 3-1 on Saturday.
Less than a week after a demoralising derby defeat to Manchester United, City bounced back with an impressive win at St James' Park.
Aguero opened the scoring for the English Premier League champions and further strikes to Javi Garcia and Yaya Toure sealed the three points.
And Mancini made special mention of the partnership and link-up play of Argentine pair Aguero and Tevez after the away win.
"They are perfect," Mancini told Sky Sports.
"They play very well together. We have Edin (Dzeko) as well who was important for us today because he kept the ball when he came on. We have Mario (Balotelli) as well at home."
Balotelli was left out of the match-day squad altogether, despite starting against Manchester United in the club's 3-2 loss.
Mancini insisted the controversial Italian still has a future at the club.
"He was at home only because he needs to work," he said.
"If he deserves to play it's because he works well. If not, he stays on the bench. He must understand that, like all the other players."
Despite the completeness of City's performance at Newcastle, the club's manager believes they played their best football of the season in the second half of last week's loss to their Manchester rivals.
"No (that was not our best performance of the season), the best football we've played was against United in the second half," he said.
"In the second 45 minutes against United we stayed entirely in their half and I think if you do that you play a very good game.
"We lost in the end and in the end result matters but today we did very well because we created a lot of chances to score."
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said he was proud of his players despite the defeat.
"Their best players played well today and were the difference, up front they were a real handful on another day it could have been our game," Pardew said.
"I was really proud of my players - second half we came out with great intent. When you play against a team as good as Manchester City you need the big moments to come off for you and they didn't, which is the way our season is going.
"You're always going to have problems against Manchester City, they played some great stuff today."
City remain six points behind table-toppers Manchester United in second while Newcastle sit just two points above the relegation zone in 15th position on the table.
