Since Basile tendered his resignation last week, Maradona, Bianchi, Argentina Under-20 boss Sergio Batista and San Lorenzo coach Miguel Angel Russo have all been touted as possible replacements.

Despite all the rumours Grondona had been playing his cards close to his chest, but on Saturday he revealed all the names linked with the jobs were in contention.

"All the candidates named by the press to coach the national team have a chance," he said.

"I don't know anything. I have read everything that has been written, but we are now just going to evaluate our next step."

Grondona refused to be drawn on specific candidates, saying of Maradona: "I don't know if this is his time (to coach the team) or not."

He also refuted claims he had fallen out with Boca Juniors coach Bianchi, while defending Barcelona forward Leo Messi for commenting that a change of coach was needed.

He said: "When you are 20 you can say senseless things without meaning any harm."
