The 46-year-old was admitted to hospital on Wednesday evening, and has his family at his bedside.

"Maradona remains stable and evolving well. There are not dangers, and hospital professionals are taking all the precautions needed," Cahe commented.

"His daughters are already here, and his mother will arrive at any moment. He is sedated but conscious.

"The alcohol, a diet, cigars, and a lot of stressful situations brought him here. He has some hepatitis symptoms but his heart is better than anyone's."

However, Cahe is not sure what the future holds for the Argentina legend.

He said: "I don't know if Maradona is going to achieve peace in his soul and mind after being admitted to hospital this time.

"But I'm sure that he needs to reorganise his life and get closer to his family, as he was a few months ago.

"I understand why some hospitals didn't want to admit Maradona last Wednesday. His mere presence alters any institution," Cahe added.

"The idea to travel to Switzerland to complete his recovery will be analysed in the future, and Maradona has the final decision."
