Defender Carlos Marchena insists Spain will still qualify for Euro 2008 despite a faltering qualifying campaign.
Luis Aragones' side were fortunate to claim a 1-1 draw with Iceland in Saturday's game in Reykjavik and now need a win against Latvia on Wednesday.
Marchena said: "Our objective is to get to Euro 2008 and we are not out of it. We have all we need to get there."
The Valencia defender admitted that the draw with Iceland was a disappointment, saying: "We went with the intention of winning and climbing up the table but we have to be content with a point that is quite good for us and leaves us in a good situation in the table."
Spain are level on 16 points with Northern Ireland and three points behind Sweden.
