The Central Coast Mariners have sacked former Olyroo Troy Hearfield over failing a drug test which revealed traces of a prohibited recreational drug. News Limited reported today that Hearfield's contract was terminated by the club two months ago after he admitted taking the illicit substance. Hearfield is now awaiting the result of a tribunal hearing on the possible ban he faces from the sport - with penalties ranging from 12 months to five years. He's just the second A-League player to fail a test since 2005.
