CENTRAL Coast Mariners have released Pedj Bojic from the final year of his contract with the talented rightback tipped for a move to Sydney FC for next season.
Bojic still had one more year left to run on his Mariners deal but told the club last month that he wanted to exit the club for new opportunities.
Sydney are rebuilding their squad after last season's disappointing run despite the signing of marquee star and Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero.
Today the Mariners confirmed they had now accepted Bojic's request to leave, after he was omitted from the line-up for their crucial AFC Champions League clash with Guangzhou Evergrande.
"Central Coast Mariners wish to confirm that defender Pedj Bojic has been granted a release from the club," said a statement from the club this afternoon.
"Bojic approached management in recent weeks wishing to terminate the final year of his contract. The club held talks with Bojic in a bid to having him remain with the Mariners.
"However, Bojic’s release will now be activated upon the team’s return to Australia on Friday.
"Bojic joined the Mariners in 2008 and has been a constant figure in the club’s first team over the past five years.
"Central Coast Mariners would like to thank Bojic for his service to the club, and wish him good fortune in his future endeavours."
