The Mariners claimed only their second win of the campaign, having failed to claim a victory in their opening five games this season. They've now claimed two wins in three games.

"It's still early days for us," Okon told Fox Sports. "We've got 11 new players.

"I think the signs have been positive from Round One. We're happy that we've won.

"We move on to a home game next Sunday against Perth. We move forward." 

He added: "The pleasing thing apart from the win, is it's the seventh game from eight we've taken the lead. For whatever reason, we've not always been able to take the win."

Andrija Kaluderovic headed in an own goal on 39 minutes, before the Mariners put their dominance on the board with a strong second-half.

The impressive Daniel De Silva swooped on a loose ball to make it 2-0 on 54 minutes.

Andrew Hoole curled home a stunning strike on 66 minutes, before Dario Vidosic gave the hosts hope with a headed goal on 71 minutes.

The speedy Trent Buhagiar raced forward on the counter-attack to score the fourth in injury-time to complete a big win.

"It's not an easy place to come and get points," Okon said. "To do it in the manner that we did is reallty satisfying. 

"I thought we were very dominant in the first half and could've had one or two more goals.

"We knew Wellington would come at us in the second half and chase the game.

"We scored some magnificent goals and go home with the points that we feel we deserve."
