The 22-year-old right back featured in Adelaide United's youth squad up until the end of last season and is a former teammate of Fury midfielder Osama Malik and featured in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup for the Reds.

Fury coach Ian Ferguson is excited with the prospect of having the former Qantas Young Socceroo in his squad for next season.

"He's a fantastic young talent and I'm really pleased to be getting him on board next season," Ferguson said.

"Michael will give us another option at the back and is another one who gives us some youth to develop for the future."

Marrone is eager to get to North Queensland and sees the two year deal as a way to build his career.

"Joining the Fury next year is a great opportunity for me," Marrone said. "I really want to establish myself as a first team player and hopefully I can bring something to the Fury to help the team.

"I find I can focus more on football if I'm away from home and can get out of my comfort zone and that's what North Queensland offers.

"I know a few of the other guys who have moved up there from Adelaide and they had a lot of good things to say about the club, so that helped in the decision as well."

Ferguson said the newcomer's signature came on the back of other good news for the club with the re-signing of Osama Malik and Jack Hingert for another two seasons as well.

"Fury are serious about having the right mix of players and Osama and Jack have also agreed to stay at the club," Ferguson said.

"They're both players who have got great potential and when they were first signed I thought they'd be a work in progress.

"They've both got game time this year and done very well, so I'm pleased they're staying on."
