Socceroos goalkeeper Mat Ryan has been recognised by the BBC after a phenomenal match between the sticks for Brighton Hove & Albion.
Ryan was the hero for mid-table Brighton as he saved a 90th minute penalty to salvage a 1-1 draw against Stoke City, and was named in the BBC's Team of the Week as a result.
Mat Ryan for England’s number 1. Yeah he’s not English but Brighton fans are forever trying to get their players called up. Worth a try I suppose! #BHAFC

After a slow start, Ryan has kept eight cleansheets in 27 appearances so far this season, making 82 saves in the process. His passing accuracy stacks up among the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, with 251 accurate long passes so far this season.

His penalty statistics are equally impressive - the save against Charlie Adam was Ryan's tenth penalty save of his career, meaning the Aussie has saved more than one-third of the penalties he's faced in professional competition.
