The Matildas have moved up one spot in the latest FIFA Women's World Rankings released on Friday (AEST).
Alen Stajcic’s side were sitting in eighth last month but have moved up a spot to be seventh just behind Japan.
Having been leapfrogged by Germany in the previous ranking, USA is back on top after four impressive wins over the past month.
France remain in third ahead of Canada (fourth) and England which make up the top five.
Sweden were the biggest to fall this month, dropping to ninth, sandwiched in between Brazil (eighth) and DPR Korea (10th).
Earlier this month Australia announced it will bid to host the 2023 Women's World Cup.
