Australia has a compelling history against Mexico with a record of seven wins and only one loss in their eight meetings since 2003

The last match between the two sides saw the Westfield Matildas defeat El Tricolor 3-1 in the Peace Queen Cup in Korea Republic in October last year.

“The next two matches (Mexico and England) are critical to see where we’re at in our preparation for June 29,” said Westfield Matildas Head Coach Tom Sermanni.

“The team has come through the travel and early sessions extremely well and we are now looking to work on certain parts of our game and get some more fluidity between our players.

“Our focus is really now on getting our structures in place and preparing as best we can for that first match against Brazil.”

With only six days to go until the official start of the sixth FIFA Women’s World Cup excitement is palpable with most teams having arrived in Germany.

The Westfield Matildas will play one final preparation match against England on 23 June in Wolfsburg before moving to Dusseldorf for the beginning of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Westfield Matildas begin their campaign with a opening match against world number 3 Brazil on June 29 (June 30, 2.15am AEST SBS ONE), before playing Equatorial Guinea on July 3 (10pm AEST SBS TWO) and Norway on July 6 (July 7, 2am AEST SBS ONE).
