LOTHAR Matthaus is considering leaving his job as coach of Maccabi Netanya due to the increasing hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
The 1990 World Cup-winner took over at the Israeli club last summer, but may be forced to throw in the towel and return to Germany after just six months.
"If the risk should become too great, then we would have to consider things," he told the Welt am Sonntag newspaper.
"Then we would have to leave."
The 47-year-old married 21-year-old Kristina Tchoudinova in Las Vegas at the weekend. The pair have been living in Tel Aviv since the summer.
