Spiranovic, 25, has been without a club since leaving Al Arabi by mutual consent at the end of last term, with a season still to run on his two-year deal at the Qatari club.

Capped 16 times by Australia, the centre-back made one appearance in the A-League for Melbourne Victory in 2005, before moving to Germany with Nuremberg.

A loan spell at Urawa Red Diamonds in 2010 led to a permanent move to the J-League club a season later, before he surprisingly left Japan for the Middle East.

Spiranovic had trained with Victory in June and also linked up with the Wanderers later in pre-season, although reports at the time indicated he was determined to continue his career overseas.

However, Wanderers coach Tony Popovic has now secured the services of the classy defender as the reigning premiers look to improve on the grand final loss they suffered last season.

He is expected to compete with Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Michael Beauchamp for a spot in central defence at Parramatta Stadium.

Spiranovic said the lure of playing in front of the Wanderers' vocal supporters helped to sway his decision to commit to the club.

"I've heard unbelievable things about the Wanderers fan base and I'm really looking forward to playing in front of such great supporters," he said.

"With almost 16,000 members it's pretty special for a team that's only been in the league for a year."
