After his strike against Adelaide United in Sunday’s 2-0 win, McBreen leads the A-League goal-scoring charts with 16 goals going into this week’s final round.
And the English-born Aussie, who turns 36 in April, reckons he could extend his career till he’s 40.
“To be fair, I’ve felt much better body- and fitness-wise than when I was 29 and 30,” the Mariners goal machine said.
“I haven’t really had an injury in the last four years. In my mind, I kinda feel I could play for years to come.
“As long as I keep feeling that way and the team wants me, I’ll be there.”
Quizzed on whether he could go another four years, McBreen offered an ominous note to A-League defenders.
“In my mind, I feel I can. It depends on each year and my body but right now I feel great and a lot of guys seem to think because I act like a clown and a teenager that it’s tricked my body into thinking it’s younger!”
The issue also includes exclusive interviews with Michu from Swansea, Melbourne Victory’s Archie Thompson and we look at Mario Balotelli’s move to AC Milan.
Vince Grella’s farewell interview is also featured along with an A-League fan special, Steve Corica’s Perfect XI and Michael Ballack one-on-one.
