AUSTRALIAN defender Trent McClenahan has been offered a short-term deal with English Championship club Scunthorpe United which would tie him down until January.
The 25-year-old Beijing Olyroo had been an unused substitute in the Iron's midweek Carling Cup match against Oldham on non-contract terms, but a more permanent stay is now on the cards.
McClenahan, who left Scottish Premier League club Hamilton in the European summer, has been training with Scunthorpe for the past fortnight.
The former West Ham United junior had also impressed Iron manager Nigel Adkins in last week's Lincolnshire Senior Cup final against Grimsby.
