Rangers manager Ally McCoist today refused to be drawn on the incident that could see Steven Naismith face trial by television.
Television footage apparently showed Naismith catching Austin McCann in the face with an elbow during Saturday's 4-0 win, although the Dunfermline defender played down the incident afterwards.
McCoist said: "I have seen it again but I've got nothing to say. We've not heard anything yet."
On any ban, the manager added: "It would definitely be a spanner in the works."
The SFA's Compliance Officer, if he decides there is a case to answer, has until 3pm tomorrow to deliver a Notice of Complaint, together with evidence, to Rangers.
Naismith would then have until 3pm on Wednesday to respond to any offer of a fixed sanction, which would be a two-match ban if the offence is violent conduct.
The player could opt to respond sooner and accept the ban and sit out tomorrow's game against Kilmarnock or he could play in the clash at Ibrox and appeal against any punishment the following day. He could also accept his punishment on Wednesday and begin his suspension after the Kilmarnock game.
If Naismith chooses to fight the charge, a hearing is likely to take place on Thursday although any failed appeal would not result in additional sanctions on top of the original ban.
On a possible ban for Naismith, stand-in captain Steven Davis said: "It would be a massive blow. He has started the season really well.
"He's a very important player for us so hopefully the decision doesn't go against us."
