Reading manager Brian McDermott insists his side are not considering a loan move for Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck.
The 22-year-old has started just seven matches in the Premier League this season and is seeking clarification on his future having slipped down to fourth-choice striker at Old Trafford this season.
Despite a reduced amount of time on the pitch, McDermott is adamant Sir Alex Ferguson would not allow Welbeck to leave the club this month on a temporary deal until the end of the season.
"I can't see Sir Alex Ferguson sending Danny out to any club. I don't know where this has came from, it's got nothing to do with me," McDermott said.
"Welbeck's a great player and I'm sure Sir Alex Ferguson thinks he's a great player too. Everyone in the country thinks that."
