New Celtic striker Scott McDonald hopes to make amends to Parkhead fans for robbing them of the Bank of Scotland Premier League title two seasons ago.
The former Fir Park striker famously grabbed a late brace against Celtic on the last day of the 2004/05 season to beat the visitors 2-1 and inadvertently hand Rangers the championship.
But the 23-year-old Australia international, unveiled at Celtic Park more than two months after he agreed the move from Motherwell, wants to make a positive impact with the Hoops fans next season.
He said: "It is in the past for me. Maybe some people, understandably, are still a bit upset but they've won the last two titles in a row and hopefully we can make it three next year with me being a part of it.
"It would be nice to score the goals that won the league championship instead of the other way round but we will just wait and see."
McDonald, who signed a three-year contract with the Parkhead side for a fee believed to be around £700,000, was glad to finally pull on a Hoops shirt.
He said: "You can tell by my smile that I am happy to be here.
"It has been a long couple of months. I don't think that it usually happens like that so it has been a bit strange.
"But it made me want to come here even more and I can't wait to get out and show what I can do."
McDonald also had a thought for his former boss Maurice Malpas, who resigned last week.
The former Scotland and Dundee United defender had lost support among the Fir Park faithful in the closing weeks of the season as they flirted with relegation.
However, it was thought that Malpas left on a point of principle at the decision to replace his assistant Paul Hegarty with Scott Leitch.
McDonald said: "I'm disappointed for Maurice. We had a tough season and we didn't really get the players in that he wanted early on because he didn't get the job until late on.
"He had to find replacement for players who went out and there have obviously been other players who have gone.
"But hopefully they can have a successful season next year and beyond.
"I would like to thank everyone at Motherwell Football Club for giving me my most memorable three and a half years and they certainly hold a special place in my heart."
