Boruc allowed John Rankin's 40-yard drive to slip though his grasp for the opener, and when Hibs striker Colin Nish grabbed the second, Celtic's 12-game unbeaten run in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League table came to an end.

McGarvey feels it is now time for Strachan to bring in number two keeper Mark Brown.

"Strachan has to drop him," McGarvey told Daily Record PM.

"He has no other option under the circumstances.

"Boruc has become a liability and you could see it coming at Easter Road.

"Mark Brown's not as good a keeper but that's the reason you have two keepers, so that when one loses form the other takes his place.

"If Strachan doesn't replace him with Brown then the problem will get worse - simple as that."

Indeed, McGarvey believes Boruc's current form will prevent the Poland keeper earning a big-money move away from Parkhead.

He said: "Who would want to buy Boruc now? The answer is nobody when you consider his off-field behaviour as well as his loss of form.

"He's basically just a shadow of what he was last season when he helped Celtic win the title.

"In the summer he was rated at £12million after the performances at Euro 2008 but it's incredible that we are talking about the same player the way he has gone off the boil

"Any Premier League manager with a lot of money to spend won't touch him.

"It's really sad to see. Nobody is doubting that he's a talented guy but it's not going for him now."
