AUSTRALIAN youth international Ryan McGowan has received praise from his boss at new club Partick Thistle after making an impressive debut in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Cowdenbeath.
McGowan joined the second tier Jags on an emergency loan deal from Scottish Premier League club Hearts earlier this week in a bid to earn regular game time.
And the Adelaide-born defensive midfielder was rushed into the Partick side this week, putting in a full shift against Cowdenbeath.
Partick boss Ian McCall told ptfc.co.uk: "It was a difficult game for Ryan to come into but I thought that he did well.
"He has only been playing reserve football and he will need a few games but we've got him here for about six weeks during a really busy schedule and he will get games.
"He can play just about anywhere across the middle which is a real boost and he has got terrific energy levels as well.
"He told me before the game that he had a long throw but I didn't realise just how good that it was until tonight.
"It's another option for us but I wouldn't want us to become a team that rely on a long throw into the box."
