With only three games left in the season,  Roar have not given up on a finals spot but need a victory against their old southern rivals to realise the club's top six ambition.

McKay said only team unity and the ability to play for one another would see the squad claim all three crucial points against high-flying Sydney FC.

"We need points and that's really vital," the 27 year-old said. "These are always big games and Sydney are our traditional rivals so we have to go out there with a positive attitude and do it for ourselves."

Sydney FC have blossomed under first year coach Vitezslav Lavicka and will travel north within touching distance of the A-League Premiership.

But Sydney FC haven't beaten Roar at Suncorp Stadium since their 1-0 victory in round five of the 2007/08 season.

And McKay is confident of upset victory against  Roar's old enemy, well aware history remains on the home side's bench when the rivals meet at Suncorp Stadium.

"Sydney are flying at the moment and have had a lot of success," he said. "But we've beaten them the last few times up here which is pretty good.

"Hopefully we can dent their run and continue our late push for the finals."

However, McKay is not taking Sydney FC for granted and is hoping Roar's second secret weapon will be at full force on Saturday night.

"It's our last home game of the season and the kids are back from school holidays and everyone's in Brisbane," he said. "It's a good opportunity for everyone to get out and support us.

"I love playing there and I love it when we get a huge crowd, so hopefully everyone shows up."

Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert will make his first appearance for the club on Saturday night, sitting on the sidelines with Roar management before beginning his two week coaching role with the club early next week.

McKay said the former Barcelona, AC Milan and Newcastle striker would add a new dimension to the squad's training sessions.

"He has a wealth of knowledge, for both defenders and strikers," he added. "And it will be utilised well by the boys and the coaching staff."
