Former Rangers and Australia defender Craig Moore, who has been advising McKay, told The Courier Mail earlier this week the 28-year-old was assessing his options including a possible return to Brisbane Roar after struggling for opportunities since moving to Rangers in September.

McKay, who was an unused substitute in Monday's 3-0 win over Motherwell, has managed only three first-team appearances for the Scottish champions since the switch.

However, McKay revealed this week he wants to fight for his place at Rangers.

“I’ve enjoyed it so far, just want to be helping the team on the park when I get a chance,” he told the Oceania Rangers Supporters Association.

“No one likes it when they’re not playing, but I’m sure Coisty (manager Ally McCoist) has his reasons and the team is the most important thing. I want Rangers to be winning.”

McKay added: “I am all settled. I am really comfortable in Glasgow, I have found my favourite places to eat and shop and I live near the training ground so it’s easy to get around.

“I get along well with the whole squad. They are a great bunch.”

Former Brisbane skipper Moore had told The Courier Mail earlier in the week that McKay was looking at his options given his plight at Rangers.

“He's not playing and it doesn't look like changing. If Rangers are in a position where they feel he's not going to get game time, we'll certainly have to try elsewhere,” Moore said.

"He'd been looking to try to secure something else in Europe ... but obviously Brisbane Roar would be something I imagine would be of appeal to both the Roar and Matty McKay."
