Alex McLeish has hailed Dado Prso as one of his greatest signings as the striker prepares to bring down the curtain on his Rangers career.
The 32-year-old will quit Ibrox at the end of the season after a persistent knee problem denied him the opportunity to play on at the top level for another year.
A favourite with both fans and his fellow players, Prso was among the winners at Rangers' end-of-season awards ceremony on Monday night, when he picked up the John Greig Award, which is selected by the Gers legend himself.
Scotland boss McLeish - who brought Croatian Prso to Ibrox from Monaco in 2004 - believes he will be a hard man to replace.
He said: "He's one of the best ever, he is just a superb human being and it helps that he can also play football.
"He has been a real firm favourite with the Rangers fans ever since the day he scored an overhead kick at Craven Cottage when he introduced himself to the Rangers fans.
"He is a highly motivated guy, he is good in the dressing room. You don't get too many problems with someone like Dado Prso."
Prso has suffered from injuries throughout his Rangers career and McLeish cited his own final season at Ibrox, when the striker pushed himself to the limit to help the team both domestically and in Europe, as the period which really underlined the player's commitment to the club.
He added: "He is one of those guys who was unlucky with injuries. He got the knee injury early on in his career.
"The year we lost him, in the Champions League, he was an accident waiting to happen. We played him until he virtually dropped.
"If we had had the capacity to rotate, we would have spared him more, but he was game, he wanted to play in every game.
"At Celtic Park his hamstring gave way and that's your body telling you to slow down.
"But he came back and he will be remembered by the Rangers fans."
