The new Aalborg defender is looking forward to continuing his partnership alongside Jade North and despite anger from some fans that several big names have been released from the squad, Beauchamp says the coach has to find the right balance.

He thinks it is crucial that experienced players are not put at risk of burn out while younger players need a chance on the the big stage.

Speaking this afternoon at the team's Parramatta hotel, he said: "It's a chance for the Australian public to see what we've got coming through and with Pim giving the other boys the time off it's getting them ready for the games coming up (in the next stage of qualifying).

"We've still got a very competitive team. We're not going out there halfheartedly at all. We'd like to go out winners and put on a show.

"There's 70,000 thousand tickets sold, the fans are coming and you've got the green and gold jersey on. You don't take that lightly. Then China is a country of pride. They've that to play for."

As for the central defensive partnership with North, Beauchamp said: "I think it's coming together okay. We've only played together three games. It's a new partnership. We speak a lot on the field and off the field we get on well as well. I feel it's something that can still get better."

Beauchamp admits he's in a good place right now, all a far cry from being frozen at former club Nurnberg.

He said: "After the season I'd had I was wondering where I was going to head to.

"Once the new coach came in at Nurnberg he sort of binned me straight away, which was unfortunate for myself as a player. Without getting any reason behind it made it disappointing as well. As a footballer you want to know what you're doing wrong and he didn't give me a reason. but sometimes that's football.

"Aalborg came up and seeing as they were champions last season it's a chance to play in the Champions League. It is great opportunity for me to try and get some games under my belt. It happened very quickly. I went over there for a physical after the Qatar game and everything happened from there.

"The feedback I've had from the sporting director there (Aalborg) was that I was part of the plans and I'd be playing there."
