Melbourne City were defeated 3-0 by Sydney FC at AAMI Park on Friday night.
There was no FFA Cup hangover for the Sky Blues as they drew first blood through Paulo Retre, who finished home with a flick into the back of the net, courtesy of Rhyan Grant's pinpoint pass.
Adam le Fondre doubled the lead with a beautiful finish, after Retre and Grant paired up again. Le Fondre made it three following a beautiful back-heel assist from Milos Ninkovic.

Melbourne City
Eugene Galekovic (GK) - 5
Conceded three but the defenders in front of him were not on top of their game.
Ritchie De Laet - 6
Dangerous with bursts of speed and deliveries, but couldn't do much with it in the end.
Bart Schenkeveld - 6.5
Thwarted Grant's cross into a dangerous area. Improved second half. Headed effort went wide from an offside position.
Harrison Delbridge - 6.5
Last ditch clearances. Headed shot towards goal was plucked out of the air by goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne.
Scott Jamieson - 6
Neat first touch and important clearances. Cross into Vidosic almost resulted in the leveller.
Riley McGree - 4.5
Poor defensively and lost possession in a dangerous position which led to conceding a goal. Fired off a deflected shot.
Kearyn Baccus - 6
Better second half where he had a go at goal.

Luke Brattan - 6
Tried his luck from distance, but his effort went well wide.
Dario Vidosic - 6.5
Neat pass to McGree. Got on the end of Jamieson's cross, but Redmayne was too quick. Was kept at bay by Sydney's defence.
Bruno Fornaroli - 4
Had a quiet game and lacked service. Did well to tee-up Baccus.
Florin Berenguer - 5
Great ball to Schenkeveld.

Didn't do enough to warrant a fair rating.
Sydney FC
Andrew Redmayne (GK) - 8
Alert and comfortable with City's threat. Nothing was getting past this man tonight.
Rhyan Grant - 10
Assisted goal with a drive from outside of the box. Saw lots of the ball and was vital in Sydney's attack. In excellent form after a long injury lay-off.

Alex Wilkinson - 6.5
Solid defensively and didn't allow players to get forward.
Jop van der Linden - 6.5
Solid defensively.
Michael Zullo - 9
Important clearances, combinded well and got into good positions. Won the ball in prime areas and caught out City's defence. Had an excellent first half.
Paulo Retre - 8
Lovely finish to open the scoring. Made brilliant runs. Assisted le Fondre for the second goal.
Josh Brillante - 6.5
Quiet, but worked well with his side to thwart and put-off City.
Brandon O'Neill - 7
Solid in midfield. Beautiful half-volley pass to Zullo

Milos Ninkovic - 8.5
City had him crowded in the opening minutes but managed to break away and get involved in attack and had a few shots of his own. Stunning combination with the le Fondre in the box. Back-heel assist for le Fondre's second.
Alex Brosque - 5.5
Solid and organised in midfield as per usual, but fairly quiet.
Adam le Fondre - 8.5
Combined well with Zullo. Couldn't put the ball away after some beautiful one-twos with Ninkovic. Prodded home Sydney's second from close-range then grabbed himself a brace with a fantasic goal to make it three.

Slipped in behind players, and was really energetic from off the bench.

Positive signs for the youngster, but was not on for long enough to warrant a fair rating.
Aaron Calver - N/A
Came on in the 90th.
