Japanese legend Keisuke Honda is on the verge of signing with A-League outfit Melbourne Victory, according to reports.
The former Milan star was named among half a dozen veterans earmarked as potential A-League drawcards by Football Federation Australia.
It is understood Victory and FFA have been in talks with the 32-year-old's representatives for several months. If the deal is done it would be a major coup for the reigning A-League champions.
The Age reports the multi-million dollar signing would require dipping into Victory and FFA marquee funds.

Honda announced his retirement from international football after Japan was knocked out in the Round of 16 at the recent World Cup, where he scored against Senegal in the group stages.
Versatile, skilful - and a nemesis of the Socceroos - Honda can be deployed as a winger, attacking midfielder or playmaker in deep. His previous clubs include Nagoya Grampus, VVV-Venlo and CSKA Moscow.
He played for Serie A side Milan between 2014-17 where he made more than 80 appearances for nine goals. Most recently he lined up in the Mexican topflight with CF Pachuca.
But it was for non-football reasons that he most recently made headlines, announcing he he would join Hollywood star Will Smith in launching a $100 million venture fund.
